Intersectionality.?As a Black woman, moving from Black History Month to Women’s History month brings up the importance of understanding women as a dynamic population with a powerful shared commonality. • In honor of National Women’s History Month, we wanted to spotlight some incredible women throughout the month that are making a difference and advancing women’s voices in the workplace.?The first woman that we would like to recognize is Cathy Rossi.?Cathy received her Bachelor of Business Administration for the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater and her Master of Education in Sports Management from Old Dominion University.?Cathy has spent over 20 years working in college athletics and is currently the Deputy Athletic Director at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, where she has been for the past 9 years. When asked why Women’s History Month is important, Cathy said; “Because it recognizes the accomplishments of so many women who may have been told at some point that they couldn't do something or were stereotyped into certain gendered roles. The month allows us to all acknowledge that women are continuing to positively impact the world in many ways. As a woman who works in a predominantly?male industry, I think it's important that this month is celebrated so that young girls and women can confidently know that they can do any job that they are passionate about pursuing and that they are seeing women succeeding in those roles that they strive to be in.”
