Yesterday marked the opening of the 20th edition of the film festival “Los Angeles, Italia.” The event welcomed key representatives from the Sistema Italia in LA, including General Consul of Italy in Los Angeles Raffaella Valentini, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute Emanuele Amendola, and the Trade Commissioner Giosafat Rigano'. The Festival opening night saw also the creative team behind the Oscar-nominated short live-action film "Anuja": FABRIZIO MANCINELLI (music composer), Adam J. We are pleased to announce that the 20th edition of the "Los Angeles Italia" Film Festival starts tomorrow. As usual, the festival will be held at the TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood and will also be available online via Eventive.com On opening day (February 23), the festival will feature a tribute to Roberto Rossellini with a screening of “Stromboli,” followed by an homage to Isabella Rossellini with “Death Becomes Her.” In addition, there will be two exclusive U.S. premieres: At 5:30 PM “Darkness” (25 minutes), directed by Giuliano Oppes, with an introduction by Franco Nero, followed by “The American Backyard” (107 minutes), directed by Pupi Avati, introduced by Antonio Avati. After Avati’s movie the Opening Ceremony will start. This event presents a celebration of Italian cinematic and cultural excellence, perfectly timed on the eve of the 97th Academy Awards.
