The Isthmus Project was pleased to be part of the Wisconsin Technology Council’s Early Stage Symposium this week—a fantastic opportunity to connect with the innovation ecosystem. It was inspiring to hear Erik Iverson, CEO of the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) and a valued partner of the Isthmus Project, share how WARF is driving innovation across Wisconsin. We also had the chance to hear from visionary startups and engage with investors who are just as passionate about advancing the future of health and biotech.

Congratulations to Isthmus Project's Senior Clinical Advisor, Azita Hamedani MD, MPH, MBA, for being recognized for her role in supporting and empowering women in medicine! “Strong women support strong women,” Hamedani says. “The more you give in this world, the more you will get back.”
September is Women in Medicine Month – a time to celebrate the growing number of women in medicine, including medical students, residents and fellows. It serves as a reminder that equal opportunity for success should be available to talented professionals of all genders. The month also recognizes the importance of supporting and empowering women in medicine – something our Founding Chair, Azita Hamedani MD, MPH, MBA, has advocated for throughout her career. “Strong women support strong women,” Hamedani says. “The more you give in this world, the more you will get back.” Whether you’re just starting pre-med studies or considering making a major change in your career, Hamedani recommends being flexible while still following your true north: “First, always keep service to improving lives at your core. Second, be open to how your career in medicine may evolve over time, especially as our understanding of what determines health and well-being expands and as technology advances and constantly raises the bar in terms of how we are able to deliver remarkable care.” What advice do you have for the women in medicine in your life?
