?? Exciting News! Solar Power for Casa Esperanza! ?? In Spring 2025, the International Safe Shelter Foundation (ISSF) provided a grant to Compassion for the Family to install solar panels at their shelter in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We’re thrilled to announce that this project is now complete and already making a huge impact for the women and children at the shelter! ?? Why This Matters: Every year, rising electricity costs take funds away from critical services. In 2024 alone, the shelter spent $5,400 USD on electricity—money that could be used to support families in need. Thanks to the new solar panels, they will save nearly $5,000 USD annually, allowing them to provide even more services to survivors. Here’s what the Casa Esperanza Women’s Shelter and Compassion for the Family teams had to say: ?? “The panels will pay for themselves in just 18 months. ISSF’s support will allow us to serve families for many years to come. We are deeply grateful!” ?? ? This life-changing project was made possible because of YOUR support! Thank you to everyone who donated and helped make this a reality. Want to support more projects like this? Or visit one of our shelters? ?? Today is the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). ?? While our work primarily focuses on Latin America and the Caribbean, we stand in solidarity with partners worldwide to end this harmful practice that affects millions of women and girls. ?? 230 million+ women and girls have undergone FGM across 30 countries. ?? Most are subjected to this practice before the age of 15. ?? FGM is a human rights violation with severe health and psychological consequences. ?? Treating FGM-related complications costs global health systems $1.4 billion annually—a number expected to rise without urgent action. FGM is not just a public health crisis—it is a gender equality and human rights issue. Achieving the global goal of eliminating FGM by 2030 requires collective action from governments, civil society, healthcare professionals, and advocates. Let’s work together to amplify awareness, advocate for stronger policies, and support community-driven solutions. #EndFGM #ZeroTolerance #HumanRights #GenderEquality #GlobalHealth
