The article highlights the Army’s need for deep sensing and the #HADES program, with some detail on how the @ US army has a running start, by using prototypes to inform the design. “HADES is a five-year running start, so when we design the first HADES, it’s with five years of lessons learned. Some people say, ‘Hey, Army, how can you claim that you’re going to architect the HADES and then deliver within 24 months?’ Well, because really we’ve had five years of learning. We’re going to take that five years, architect in over the next two years and then deliver our first HADES by late ’26,” Army ISR Task Force director Andrew Evans explained. This week, the Army ISR Task Force had the honor of attending the ribbon cutting ceremony for #HADES training simulators at the CAE Flight Training Facility in Dothan, Alabama. Thank you to the entire CAE USA team for hosting the grand opening of the newest Bombardier Global 6500/600 full motion simulator, the next step in realizing the future of US Army Aerial #ISR. The end of #SpaceWeek is today, but not without a proper goodbye. Today is significant because on October 10th, 1967, was The Signing of the Treaty of Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies, also known as “The Outer Space Treaty”. This treaty was signed in London, Moscow, and Washington on January 27 1967, but fully came into effect on October 10th. The Outer Space Treaty provides the basic framework on international space law including the following principles: the exploration and use of outer space shall be carried out for the benefit and in the interests of all countries and shall be the province of all mankind, outer space shall be free for exploration and use by all States, and many more. ?? Check out this podcast with Alex Miller, Senior Advisor for Science and Technology and CTO to the Chief of Staff, on emerging battlefield technology. ? Miller spoke in depth about the advent of electronic warfare (EW) and how the Army can adapt to this new domain of battle. EW has played a huge role in the war between Russia and Ukraine, to the point that Miller now refers to the electromagnetic spectrum as key terrain. He emphasized the need for maneuverability and mobility in an EW rich combat environment before discussing options like signature management and antenna remoting as avenues forward for the US Army. Drone warfare was also an important topic discussed throughout the podcast. Miller highlighted the need for attritable drones to give soldiers UAS capabilities at their echelon to expand the reconnaissance capabilities of line units. Truly a great discussion about emerging technology and the critical importance of reconnaissance capabilities! ? See more below ?
