The Big 4 aren’t solving sustainability problems. But they’ll happily charge you a fortune for it. No wonder sustainability consultancies are popping up like crazy. Companies are scrambling to comply with new regulations, and many are realizing that the Big 4 experience isn’t cutting it. You know the drill: ? Massive budgets for… what exactly? ? 100-page reports no one reads. ? Strategy decks that tell you what you already knew, just with better graphics. ? Implementation? Oh no, that’s your problem. So it’s no surprise that smaller, specialized sustainability consultancies are thriving. They tend to be: ? More agile—less bureaucracy, faster results. ? More affordable—because not everyone has a six-figure consulting budget. ? More impact-driven—actually solving problems, not just documenting them. But with so many new consultancies launching, it begs the question: Are we actually fixing sustainability challenges, or just creating a more fragmented market of advisors? What do you think?
