Between October 15-16, The Island Policy Lab at the University of Delaware funded by NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration held a workshop in Barbados on "Strengthening Climate Resilience: Integrating Climate Services into Environmental Impact Assessment Processes". In these two impactful days, stakeholders from the public and private sectors, including development banks, gathered in Barbados for the?#NOAA Workshop. The goal was to enhance the integration of user needs—specifically EIA consultants and project developers—into climate services design and delivery. Our approach was stakeholder driven and solutions-oriented, with a practical integration of techno-scientific based regimes into evolving but entrenched legal and regulatory administrative processes. Key highlights: ? Day 1:?We explored the role of Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) in providing essential climate services and how these services are integrated into the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes. Stakeholders mapped challenges and discussed ways to position end-users at the center of climate service design. ? Day 2:?A hands-on co-design session focused on creating tailored climate services for a Solar PV Plant in Barbados. Participants collaboratively identified key activities, resources, and performance indicators to ensure climate resilience in energy projects. This workshop fostered crucial discussions on bridging the gap between development banks, public?sector, regulatory agencies, and the private sector to ensure climate services play a central role in shaping sustainable projects in the region.
