"Thanksgiving is a time for family, food, and gratitude—but keeping your meal safe is just as important as making it delicious! ??? Follow these simple food safety tips to ensure a happy and healthy holiday: 1?? Don't wash your turkey! Cooking it to 165°F will take care of bacteria. 2?? Defrost safely—use the fridge, cold water, or microwave. 3?? Avoid cross-contamination by keeping raw meats separate and washing hands/tools often. 4?? Use a food thermometer to check all parts of the turkey and stuffing. 5?? Never store food outside, even if it’s cold! Use the fridge instead. 6?? Leftovers? Refrigerate within 2 hours, and enjoy within 4 days—or freeze for later! ?? Keep these tips in mind to serve up a safe and delicious holiday meal! #FoodSafety #ThanksgivingTips #HealthyHolidays #IslandHarvest

?? Gratitude in Action: A Thanksgiving Story ?? At 7:00 a.m. this past Sunday, cars began lining up—hours before our 10:00 a.m. turkey distribution. Families waited in cold cars, determined to secure a Thanksgiving meal. By 1:00 p.m., 673 turkeys and all the trimmings had been distributed. The sight of young children bundled in backseats and parents waiting in lines stretching beyond sight reminds us of how important this meal is for so many. But we can’t do this without you. ?? ?? $35 sponsors a holiday meal for a family of four ?? $105 provides meals for three families ?? $350 ensures meals for ten families ?? Give today and make a difference ?? https://loom.ly/F68D1aE Together, we can ensure every family has something to be thankful for this holiday season. ?? From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your generosity and for helping us bring hope and joy to families in need. #ThanksgivingForAll #IslandHarvest #Gratitude #GiveBack Feeding New York State Feeding America

?? Celebrating 10 Years of Dedication: Thank You, Paul Vetrano and Family! ?? This year, Paul Vetrano and his family hosted a food drive at ShopRite in Plainview, collecting an incredible 44 turkeys, over 1,500 pounds of food, and raising more than $1,200 through his crowdfunding page in support of our Turkeys & Trimmings Collection Campaign. ???? When asked why he continues to dedicate his time and resources to Island Harvest year after year, Paul shared: “Helping Island Harvest fight hunger on Long Island is not an act of charity; it’s a profound commitment to our community. By leaning in and giving back, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need, especially when we have so much to offer. The gift we receive in return is immeasurable. As Mother Teresa wisely said, ‘If you can’t feed a hundred people, then just feed one.’ Every small act of kindness counts, and together, we can create a ripple effect of positive change.” Thank you, Paul, for your unwavering commitment to our mission and for inspiring others to make a difference! ?? Join us this holiday season: We are looking for advocates like Paul to help us make an impact. Reach out to learn how you can support. ??
