A big thank you to everyone who joined us for the 33rd Annual Psychotherapy & Faith Conference earlier this month, especially our supporters at Baylor College of Medicine and McGovern Center for Humanities and Ethics at McGovern Medical School. We had a fantastic time exploring valuable insights on a range of topics from supporting patients with gender difficulties to discussing the exciting future of AI in healthcare. Our interfaith panel was particularly valued for illustrating how faith can be a tremendous source of support during difficult times. We were delighted to team up with Bo's Place last week for our annual symposium. Our panel discussion focused on four faith perspectives of bereavement and included voices from Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism. Each panelist shared insights about their faith’s views on death and dying, offered helpful tips for providing compassionate support to those who are grieving, and shared some great self-care ideas for those who support the bereaved. The Interfaith Spiritual Care Coalition (ISCC) offers comprehensive training for a diverse group of volunteers based in Houston. Our mission is to provide spiritual care in settings that lack traditional chaplaincy programs, including hospices, home health agencies, and nursing homes. Volunteers play a crucial role in supporting individuals who may be experiencing social isolation or are nearing the end of their lives. These individuals often seek compassionate conversations about their purpose, the meaning of their lives, and their faith values. Through our program, volunteers are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to engage meaningfully with those in need, fostering a sense of connection and understanding during some of life's most challenging moments. If you have a calling to provide comfort and support in these critical situations, we invite you to join us in making a difference in the lives of others.
