We are excited to share that the Isenberg Real Estate Fund was invited to participate in the annual Cornell University International Real Estate Case Competition for the first time on November 15th. This prestigious event brings together 20 of the top real estate programs from around the globe and was an unforgettable experience for our team. The competition challenged 6 of our members to underwrite a complex value-add retail real estate deal, conduct dozens of scenario stress tests, and craft a professional pitch deck within 6 days. It was a true test of our analytical, financial, and presentation skills. After many long nights, we’re proud to share that the IREF team placed second in their room out of five teams! Thank you to event organizers Daniel Quan, Peng (Peter) Liu, Collette C. Conklin, and Anitra Garcia for putting together such an enriching experience. The opportunity to apply our knowledge, learn from our peers, and receive feedback from top industry professionals was invaluable. Congratulations to the IREF team members who represented us so well: Natalie Rais, Noah George, Kayla Thai, Isabel Donahoe, Alex Breton, and Nico Piazza. And finally, thank you to our faculty advisor and number-one supporter, Jeffrey Clark, PMP, for traveling all the way to New York City and cheering us on every step of the way. Participating in this competition marks a significant milestone for IREF. It reflects how much we’ve grown as a student-run fund and underscores the immense talent and dedication within our team. We look forward to building on this experience and returning even stronger in the future!

Last week, members of the Isenberg Real Estate Fund had another incredible opportunity to visit the real estate hub of the world—New York City. Our trip was an invaluable experience, allowing us a chance to learn from industry leaders and gain deeper insights into the real estate market. A huge thank you to William Mooney and Tricia Shay, as well as the rest of the assembled team at CBRE, Aidan Erickson-Mullane and the team at StepStone Group, David Firestein, Jenna Heidenberg and team at TSCG (The Shopping Center Group), and David L. Schachter at Vornado Realty Trust for helping to organize these visits and welcoming us kindly. We greatly appreciate your time discussing market trends, strategies, and your unique perspectives on the industry. Special thanks to truly everyone we spoke with for offering a closer look at your work and guiding us in our professional development. Your knowledge and generosity will have a lasting impact on our growth. Lastly, a big thank you to our Director, Natalie Rais, for organizing such a rewarding trip. Last night, we hosted another successful event at the Isenberg School of Management featuring the PepsiCo Global Real Estate team. The discussions centered around the future of global real estate, focusing on strategic portfolio management, the integration of AI in the industry, and the transformation of organizational structures. We also had an open discussion where the PepsiCo team answered several questions about the evolving landscape of the real estate industry. A sincere thank you to our guest speakers, Matthew Babyak, Global Head of Integration & Enablement; Erica Wagner, ESQ, MCR, SVP, Head of PepsiCo Global Real Estate; and Kacie McCarthy, MCR, Director of Business Intelligence & Analytics, for sharing their expertise. We would also like to recognize Professor Jeffrey Clark, PMP for his help in coordinating this event. It was an excellent opportunity to connect with industry professionals, alumni, and students, while gaining invaluable insights into the global real estate industry.
