Ever heard of these terms, Scholarships, Fellowships, Assistantships, and Affiliate Programs and struggled to know the difference? ?? Don’t worry, we are here to help! Let’s start explaining each of them: ? Scholarships: Scholarships refer to financial grants & awards given to meritorious students based on various parameters such as academic excellence & accomplishments, extraordinary sports or extra-curricular performance, etc. Scholarships are sometimes need-based, awarded to students who might lack financial resources but are academically gifted and well-performing. ?Fellowships: Fellowships are funding that are mostly received by graduate students or researchers to give monetary support to advanced study, research, or creative work. Moreover, fellowships are usually merit-based and non-repayable. For e.g., the Rhodes Scholarship is a fellowship program. ?Assistantships: Assistantships can be classified as on-campus work opportunities for students. Assistantships are usually part-time paid roles that include teachers or research assistant posts that are open for graduate students. It is not like the 9 am-6 pm shift. Mostly, you are pre-assigned the number of hours you are required to dedicate per week to your assistantship position. In some cases, it might be 12 hours, in others, it might be 15. These assistantship offers also include a tuition fee waiver and a handsome stipend. For example, teaching assistants, graduate research assistants, research assistants, and graduate assistants. Cornell University offers some amazing assistantships for graduate students. ?Affiliate Programs: Affiliate Programs can be described as partnerships between institutions or organizations that cumulatively offer shared benefits, resources, or funding opportunities, often involving a network or collaborative effort. For example, Universities tie up with each other to offer academic programs. #studyabroad #scholarship #education #scholarship #fellowship #assistantship #affiliateprograms #ischoolconnect
