With the US emerging as India’s largest trading partner, bilateral trade is set to quadruple in the next 5 years, from $118 billion in 2024 to $500 billion in 2030, with special emphasis on high-end technologies for sectors like defense, semiconductors, and GCCs. ? ????????????-????-???????????? ???????? Today, there are over 300,000 Indian students in the US, contributing over $10 billion to the US education sector. Meanwhile, US companies in India employ over 100,000 individuals, fostering a two-way exchange of knowledge and skills. ? ???????? - ???????????? ?????????????? ?????? ???????????????????? With over 2,000 GCCs in India, US firms are leveraging Indian talent for R&D, AI, deep tech, and analytics, thereby creating a massive multiplier effects. For example, every $10 million invested in a GCC creates $200+ million in value. ? ???????????? ?????????????? ???????????? ?????? ???????? ???? ???????? ?? & ?? ???????????? Hyderabad is a top choice for high-value GCCs, alongside Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Gurgaon owning to good connectivity and talent availability. Following Budget 2025, improving infra (including more direct flights to the US) and cost efficiencies in cities like Vishakhapatnam, Coimbatore, and Bhubaneswar, can incentivize global companies to consider multi-city GCCs to unlock new talent pools. ? ???????? ?????????????? ???????????? ???? ???????????????????? ?????????? Throwback to our article 'Made in India' published by the California Management Review last year. Smartphones have now overtaken diamonds as the highest value product export to the US. Great potential yet to be unlocked as total production volume of Made in India iPhones increases from 15% currently to 25% in the next 2 years ?? The Future of Online Shopping: Unveiling the Power of Social Ecommerce In our paper, "Ecommerce Disrupted: Is Social Ecommerce the Future of Online Shopping," my co-authors and I discuss the transformative potential of Social Ecommerce. We argue that Social Ecommerce is much more than influencer marketing; it embodies a paradigm shift where the essence lies in fostering Direct Network Effects. These effects are not confined to traditional influencer-consumer dynamics but extend to a more intricate ecosystmen where customers and influencers interchange roles seamlessly, especially evident in the realm of Pico-influencers and across diverse product categories. The crux of direct network effects hinges on interdependence, a concept that finds reinforcement through collaborative endeavors like team sports, group purchases, and communal activities. This interplay underscores the significance of balancing the customer-facing aspects of the platform alongside the intricacies of cross-side network design. While conventional ecommerce platforms predominantly leverage cross-side network effects, Social Ecommerce harnesses the dual power of both direct and cross-side effects. This dual leverage inherently positions social ecommerce platforms, such as the emerging Jio-Facebook-Whatsapp ecosystem, for a competitive edge over traditional ecommerce giants in the dynamic landscape of Indian retail and ecommerce.
