Dramatic Artists should take a page from the magician's book; if we want the audience to experience the magic of theater, then just as a magician knows the mechanics of performing an illusion, so should the dramatic artist know the mechanics of our craft. Three years ago, we speculated that technology would advance to the point that virtual sets would enhance the audience experience. And here we are! Please help us build the Theater of Tomorrow in Irvine, where we will, 'Preserve the art form, and evolve the experience.'

Ivan! You are always at the forefront! And I've always been a fan of Tim Kashani. (Have you considered involving UCI Brain Initiative's–The Artistic Brain?) This is exactly the right move for UCI. Invest in the future of storytelling. Irvine Theater Company recently acquired our non-profit status and our mission is to build the Theater of Tomorrow at the Great Park. The live performance theatrical canvas will use technology that incorporates filmic elements along with components of the gaming experience to engulf the audience in the world of the story. But who is going to create the content for this emerging genre of entertainment? .... Hmmm.

Over the past two weekends, I had the privilege of collaborating with the Irvine Theater Company on their production of "My (Unauthorized) Hallmark Movie Musical", a remarkable show performed, written, directed, and produced by the talented Eloise Coopersmith. The production was graciously hosted by Canvas Church in Irvine, CA. We had the unique opportunity to incorporate cutting-edge technology from Dr. Paul Zak, also known as Dr. Love, to provide the audience with a deeper understanding of their brain's immersion during the performance. Working with Best Tuesday Ever and engaging with the audience was an unexpected and joyful experience. My role involved facilitating the use of this innovative technology and encouraging meaningful interactions among audience members. After the show, we initiated discussions centered around compatibility and personhood, sparking thoughtful conversations. This experience also allowed me to make new connections within the vibrant theater community of Orange—something I hadn't had the chance to do before. I'm especially grateful to David Ihrig, Patricia Ihrig, Robert Spence (www.SoCalBartender.com), Eloise Coopersmith, and Casey Long. It was truly an honor to work alongside such unique individuals. Personally, this opportunity has been a significant milestone in my growth as an artist and professional. Through multiple interactions with experienced professionals and passionate theatergoers, I’ve gained invaluable insights and new opportunities for work. As I approach my senior year at Chapman University, I’m more motivated than ever to take my art and career to the next level. It warms my heart to have played a role in facilitating this event while also being able to enjoy an incredible show. Eloise has inspired me in countless ways, and I’m eagerly anticipating where this funny, whimsical, and heartwarming musical will journey next!
