Educational opportunities are a clear path to veteran reintegration and workforce engagement. ??"According to a 2021 IREX study, 42% of veterans did not return to their previous jobs. Among those who did, about half stayed for only 3–6 months before leaving. At that time, veterans served an average of 12–14 months. So, what will the percentage of non-returns look like for those who have already served over 30 months as of today? The job market has significantly shifted in the past three years. While it used to favor employers who set the rules, today, it is increasingly employee driven. For instance, data from robota.ua reveals that in February 2022, before the full-scale Russian invasion in #Ukraine, a job seeker needed to complete 14.8 actions to secure a position. Now, that number has dropped to just 1.8 — essentially, all it takes is interest and a CV," explains Kostiantyn Tatarkin, veteran and Technical Advisor to the IREX Veteran Reintegration Program. In response to this evolving landscape, the IREX Veteran Reintegration Program, supported by the U.S. Department of State, has launched its 7th round of scholarships for veterans, and their families. The grant covers short-term educational courses in any field. To date, 142 veterans and family members have received scholarships for training and reskilling. Popular courses include foreign languages, design, and entry-level IT professions.
