?? Happy St. Patrick’s Day from IREM NY Capital Region! ?? Did you know that the Capital Region has deep Irish roots? Albany was a key destination for Irish immigrants in the 19th century, many of whom helped shape the city through labor, politics, and culture. The city's annual Albany St. Patrick’s Day Parade dates back decades, bringing thousands of spectators downtown to celebrate Irish heritage! And let’s not forget Jack McEneny, former NY Assemblyman and Albany historian, who often shared stories about the city's Irish influence—including the role of the Irish in the construction of the Erie Canal, which was essential to New York’s economic growth.
