In collaboration with the MENA Community Center , the MIRA women's support group organized our women's event, "Tatreezz Together: Wellness and Connection," at their center. the women had a great time learning about simple tools to practice for self-care, followed by discussion and food. Two weeks ago, our women’s group held a mental health awareness training session for 30 women, presented by Ekram Hanna. The participants engaged in a valuable learning experience focused on understanding mental health, recognizing the signs of depression, and exploring self-care strategies. This was followed by an insightful group discussion. We concluded the session by sharing lunch provided by Fry-Chicken and Fries providing an opportunity to connect further in a safe space setting. Last week, the MIRA Director of Development, Ekram Hanna, participated in the Illinois APEX Accelerator workshop, which introduced small business leaders to opportunities in federal government contracting. Last month, MIRA's Director of Development presented our organization at the Associate Board Basics seminar and board fair hosted by United Way of Metro Chicago, collaborating with the Simmons Center for Global Chicago. Participants discovered how they could impact their community by serving on a local nonprofit’s associate or junior board. In June, Ekram Hanna, MIRA's Director of Development and Community Engagement, represented our organization at the National Arab American Advocacy Days 2024 in Washington, D.C. The event, hosted by the National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC), offered a valuable opportunity to engage with congressional offices on Capitol Hill and advocate for the needs of our communities. It ensured that our voices were heard on critical issues.
