It's Friday, which means it's time for lacrosse in Iran! ?????? Through "Lacrosse Fridays", a grassroots initiative led by IRAN LACROSSE, the sport is thriving in cities like Tehran, Karaj, Tabriz, and Rasht. Free training, equipment, and a focus on sustainability are expanding lacrosse's reach, with over 1000 participants and seven new coaches already trained. With milestones like the first women's national tournament in Tehran, Lacrosse Friday is shaping the future of the sport in Iran and inspiring dreams that stretch far beyond the field. As Bob mentioned, we are at a pivotal moment, and the coming years leading up to the 2028 Olympics will be critical for the future of lacrosse. May this period be marked by achieving a perfect harmonious collaboration among all stakeholders (NGBs, CFs, and World Lacrosse) and fostering innovative approaches to developing our exciting sport, leading to its greater success and growth! For the third week's task of the International Olympic Committee – IOC Young Leaders Learning Hub, I am super excited to introduce Lacrosse Fridays, a project that I built on sustainability, gender equality, and inclusion by sharing the inspiring story of Iran's pioneering women lacrosse players. Two years ago, I applied for the 2023-2026 IOC Young Leaders Program but was not selected. After reflecting, I realized the project needed a pivotal approach: something more feasible, inclusive, and sustainable. This reflection led me to create Lacrosse Fridays that is a project born from my deep passion for IRAN LACROSSE. Faced with the lack of lacrosse equipment in Iran, I submitted a proposal to World Lacrosse. This resulted in a development grant and the delivery of essential training equipment to Iran. I would like to take this opportunity to offer special thanks to WL’s Director of Sport, Tj Buchanan , for making this possible! Moreover, training in public parks became a strategic choice due to gender-related restrictions. To clearify, as a male coach, I can only train women in public places, so I began training female players and coaches to ensure gender equality and inclusion through a truly sustainable manner. The Lacrosse Fridays project, which I will submit for the 2025-2028 IOC Young Leaders program, is aligned with seven UN SDGs, including Goals 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 11 and 17. For more details, stay tuned for my next post! Currently, I am monitoring the development of activated cities through a decentralized approach, empowering provincial ambassadors to lead the way. In conclusion, through Lacrosse Fridays, we are doing more than promoting a new sport to Iran; we are creating a resilient community that dares to dream big and stands for gender equality, sustainability, and inclusion every step of the growing the game. #LearningSprintIOCYL @iocyoungleaders
