Talk about coming full circle!!!!! My *very first speech ever* included lunch at Pizza Hut. I remember it like it was yesterday. This is why I was fired up to keynote the International Pizza Hut Franchise Holders Association Annual Meeting and thank them for the memories they help customers make and the countless careers they've launched. In my experience, working in a restaurant is one of the best places to learn many valuable work and life skills. Do you agree?
?
I worked in two different restaurants in two different towns as a teenager. The skills I learned I still carry with me today. I learned how a group of individuals can come together (one shift at a time!) to delight families, friends, and meetings, what great customer service looks like, why the customer is not always right, a deeper appreciation of the diversity in our world, and what it felt like when your manager believes in their people.
?
Too often I think industries like restaurant, retail, hospitality, manufacturing, and more don’t get the recognition they deserve for all the people whose careers they launch and skills they develop. This made sharing my latest generational research, discoveries, stories, and strategies with these innovative franchisees so gratifying for me—and a lot of fun for them! ?? ?? ??
?
I want to give a big high-five to the entire IPHFHA team, committee, and sponsors for creating a wonderful national meeting, vibrant trade show, and deeply collaborative franchise community. Y’all are continually innovating and bringing your commitment to excellence and leadership to everything you do for team members, families, communities, and even our Friday movie and pizza nights at the Dorsey house!!! We are grateful for you.
