It's Agriculture Week in Iowa, a good time to celebrate everyone who's "rooted in service" to their local communities.

This weekend was a chance for Iowa’s young farmers to plant new seeds – to grow their networks, consider new ideas, and return to the farm reinvigorated. Thank you to the more than 500 young farmers who attended Iowa Farm Bureau’s Young Farmer Conference in Des Moines!

We need advocates to step forward and tell agriculture’s story. Throughout his career, Larry Sailer of Franklin County has embraced that challenge, and last week we honored him with Iowa Farm Bureau’s 2024 Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award.

“You just know that when Bill went to work, he went to work for you. He went to work for the state of Iowa. He went to work for farmers across this country.” It was our privilege to celebrate Bill Northey’s remarkable career and his unwavering commitment to the growth and vitality of agriculture, by awarding him Iowa Farm Bureau’s 2024 Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award this week.

Every Iowa community needs leaders – people who are willing to invest their time and resources for the betterment of local families, businesses, schools, and agriculture.
