Our focus is on ensuring that critical programs and funding like Pell grants and TRIO continue to play their critical role in student success. Preserving History, Empowering Students: Iowa Valley's Collaboration with Sen. Joni Ernst's Office Iowa Valley Community College District was deeply honored to collaborate with Senator Joni Ernst's office and the Iowa Veterans Home on a significant project for the Library of Congress's Veterans History Project. Our team, including our dedicated students, spent a day at the Iowa Veterans Home capturing the invaluable stories of six veterans. This project provided our students with an exceptional opportunity to apply their skills in video production and interviewing while contributing to a national archive of veteran narratives. We are immensely proud of their work and the meaningful experience they gained. Collaborating with Senator Ernst's team underscored the importance of community partnerships in preserving our nation's history and fostering educational opportunities. We extend our sincere gratitude to Senator Ernst's office and the Iowa Veterans Home for their trust and collaboration. Navigating the complexities of higher education can be challenging for both students and their families. High school counselors play a crucial role in guiding students toward their academic and career goals. They are expected to have all the answers, especially when it comes to questions about college and the college-prep process. To support our school counselors, we've developed a comprehensive toolkit designed to make it easier to advocate for the benefits of concurrent enrollment. We are excited to launch the Concurrent Enrollment Toolkit, filled with facts/data, email templates for parents and students, social media post ideas (with graphics), and fliers they can hang in their schools. A local focus. At the community college level, we develop and adapt our programming to meet local business needs. When our area employers told us that they needed skilled workers who could work in the automation space, we went to work and developed a certification course to address this critical need. The course, offered by our Business and Community Solutions division, is a BootCamp style course, which means that employees can be certified in automation in one week, thanks to our partners, Colewell Automation.
