Iowa Egg Council is a results-focused organization that partners with others to understand and meet the evolving consumer needs of eggs and egg products. Bruce Dooyema of Versova Farms, Iowa is heavily invested in demonstrating the sustainability of eggs to 'feed the world' as he is a board member of Blessman of International South Africa in their agriculture outreach and specifically has been a big part of the 'egg a day' project with Hy-Line and Blessman International. Recently, Dooyema visited the rural South Africa school which has been part of a special project receiving two eggs per day from the Blessman/Hy-Line flock for several months and was able to experience first-hand how improved nutrition is helping the kids with better health and scholastic outcomes. The teacher shared how the kids are more excited to come to school, are able to concentrate better through the day. Based on continued positive feedback from this initial project, Hy-Line and Blessman hope this will allow the expansion of the outreach to add eggs to their existing feeding program which reaches some 60,000 kids throughout the country

It's National Intern Day and we are thankful to have our amazing intern, Naomi! Naomi is a Senior at ISU studying Dairy Science with a minor in Agricultural Entrepreneurship. Her role at Iowa Egg Council includes preparing and presenting educational and promotional items, assisting with the egg booth at the Iowa State Fair, writing press releases, and much more! Thanks for spending your summer with us, Naomi!
