Join us in thanking Ethan Hohenadel for 17 years of service to Iowa's electric cooperatives! Ethan leads IAEC's Policy & Advocacy team as they manage policy issues and relationships with the legislative, executive and judicial branches of government.

It's Severe Weather Awareness Week in Iowa and we encourage you to take these steps to be prepared: 1. Be aware of weather hazards by signing up for emergency notifications through Alert Iowa (alert.iowa.gov), enabling WEA alerts on your mobile phone, and having a weather radio. 2. Create or check your emergency kit to make sure you have everything you need in case you have to shelter in place or evacuate. 3. Practice what you would do in the event of severe weather and how you would take shelter or how you would evacuate. 4. Check your insurance coverage on your home and auto and know what is and what is not covered. 5. Take an inventory on paper or by picture of your home and keep it in your go bag or virtually in case you have to report damages. Learn more about how to be better prepared at ready.iowa.gov.

Congratulations are in order for Shelly York, who is celebrating 37 years with IAEC! As many of our members know first hand, she is an incredible asset to the statewide association. Shelly manages the IAEC office and our student programs, including Iowa Youth Tour and the Iowa Youth Leadership Academy. We appreciate all she does for Iowa's electric cooperatives!

Congratulations to Elliott Gebel on his 2-year work anniversary at IAEC! Elliott manages grassroots activities and advocacy programs in our Policy & Advocacy Department.

Scott Meinecke, our director of safety & loss control, celebrates his 8-year work anniversary at IAEC this week! Scott is committed to building a proactive safety culture for the electric cooperatives we serve and his goal is to ensure every co-op employee gets home safe each day.

We congratulate Katrina Davis, CMP on a decade of stellar service as IAEC's director of education and training! She has elevated our statewide conferences, trainings and events by developing top-tier agendas and maximizing sponsorship opportunities. She cares deeply about our members and it shows in every interaction.

November 20 is Utility Scam Awareness Day - as we approach the holidays, be wary of any phone calls or texts claiming to be from your electric utility demanding immediate payment and threatening disconnection. Stop the scam by contacting your electric co-op directly to verify your account status. Your Iowa electric co-op would never contact you out-of-the-blue demanding immediate payment.

Congratulations to Cherie L. Moen, CAP for 8 years of service at IAEC! Cherie is the administrative specialist in our communications department and keeps details in check for our member directory/database and for Iowa Electric Cooperative Living magazine.
