Thank You, Vit Buckle Society 2025! A big thank you to the organizers and program committee of the Vit Buckle Society 2025 meeting for inviting me to join the debate panel on office vitrectomy alongside the incredibly talented Alia Durrani. Of course, Alia was going to be a tough competitor—destined to win by a large margin! ?? But I’m proud to say that 25% of the audience recognized what is already happening right now in ophthalmic surgery thanks to my pioneering efforts: The shift away from hospitals and ASCs to Office-Based Surgery (OBS) is not just a theoretical concept—it’s a reality. And I am living proof of that. My first 600 sequential cases are the largest and first case series of full-scale vitrectomy performed in an office operating room in the USA. This accomplishment is something I’m incredibly proud of, and I will continue to advocate for the merits of office-based retina surgery. Together, if we can come around to this vital concept, we can expand access to care across the world. We can bring complex surgery to anywhere, any place, and do it safely and effectively. This is about supporting our patients and making sure they have every right to world-class care and removing traditional roadblocks seen in hospitals and ASCs.
