Read Investor Choice Advocates Network's latest newsletter about our client Paul Spitzer's request to the SEC that has been languishing for nearly two years. When he settled with the SEC, he didn't realize that his explicit right to apply to the SEC to lift supervisory restrictions in the future would be "illusory" as then Commissioner Mike Piwowar described the process. Sure, you can apply to lift a bar entered against you, but the SEC can just never respond to your application. (https://lnkd.in/gsQr5dCx)

In a dramatic reversal, the SEC recently dismissed pending, contested administrative bar proceedings against accountants.?Although the Commission has not spoken publicly about the dismissals, they closely followed the Supreme Court decision against the agency in SEC v Jarkesy, suggesting the dismissals represent a reaction to the Court's affirmation of jury rights. In Part 1 of our two part SEC Roundup on this topic, hear from one of the impacted accountants whose professional career will never recover from the damage to his reputation caused by the unproven (and now dismissed) allegations against him.? The SEC has not issued a press release announcing the dismissals in the same way it issued press releases announcing the initial cases. Bringing and then dropping unconstitutional proceedings against small auditors for minor, isolated infractions in the absence of fraud or investor harm only exacerbates the accountant and auditor shortage in the U.S. With Thomas Zaccaro by Investor Choice Advocates Network.

What a fantastic treat to be able to meet the energized and engaged community at the Atlanta Blockchain Center last night. Discussions ranged from overturning of Chevron doctrine to Wells notices to amicus briefs. Everything SEC/blockchain was on the table. Great event with a great group.

When people ask me how I know so much about blockchain technology, I tell them it’s because I’m always looking ahead and staying on top of what’s next. There’s something special about diving into emerging technologies and staying ahead of the curve. That’s why I love attending Atlanta Blockchain Center’s Off-The-Chain Thursday night events. At a time when so many are still skeptical about blockchain and crypto, it’s empowering to be surrounded by people who truly understand its potential. Last night, Marlon Williams, the founder of Atlanta Blockchain Center, and Nick Morgan, the founder of ICAN Law, led an insightful discussion on SEC oversight and Amicus briefs. Nick taught us how the appeals process works, explaining that lower state court decisions don't set binding precedents beyond their jurisdiction, which I found really interesting. We also learned about the role of appellate courts and how to properly navigate project launches while staying compliant with regulations. The knowledge shared at Off-The-Chain Thursday nights feels like a cheat code. Sometimes we describe the energy as “like church” for blockchain and crypto. ?? Atlanta Blockchain Center is the only hub of its kind in the country, and the level of innovation coming out of this space is incredible! If you’re in the ATL area and interested in learning more about this transformative technology, I highly encourage you to join us on Thursday nights.
