Removing blighted properties is one way Invest Atlanta and our partners are revitalizing neighborhoods like English Avenue and Vine City. Today, we joined Mayor Andre Dickens, Atlanta Housing, Westside Future Fund and others to show how land acquisition strategies are helping to eliminate blight and bring new affordable housing to these communities. “We purchased 48 properties in Vine City and English Avenue with a goal of redeveloping them. I’m happy to say that many of those properties are already activated, many of those properties are part of the Atlanta Land Trust so they will be permanently affordable," said Invest Atlanta COO Dawn Arnold. Mercer Street Meals recently made a significant leap forward thanks to Invest Atlanta's Open for Business Fund. The funding enabled the business to transition from a home kitchen to a fully equipped commercial kitchen. Recognizing the challenge in providing a nutritious meal after a long workday, Mercer Street Meals specializes in pre-order, ready-made and high-quality meals. “We are committed to providing good, nutritious meals at an affordable price, making everyday life a little easier for busy families,” Gracie tells us. With support from Invest Atlanta’s Atlanta Recovery Loan, Lance and Gracie renovated a commercial space they found in their neighborhood, as it was important for them to stay close to their customer base. Dr. Eloisa Klementich, Invest Atlanta president and CEO, recently joined Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and other city leaders on a foreign direct investment trip to Dublin, Ireland. The four-day visit included meetings with private industry and government leaders to discuss a range of collaborative opportunities for the cities of Dublin and Atlanta. High-level discussions focused on everything from housing, public safety and community inclusiveness to foreign investment prospects for Irish companies, urban grocery strategies and fintech/sports tech synergies. #MovingAtlantaForward

Kennithia Johnson saw a need in her community for reliable, affordable laundry services. After 18 months of renovation, Wash and Bubbles is open for business! Through a Commercial Property Improvement Grant and an Atlanta Recovery Loan, Kennithia repaired the roof, replaced the HVAC system, made interior improvements and purchase laundry machines. Earlier this month we joined the ribbon cutting for 3Corners LLC. Chloe Floyd and her family own commercial buildings on three corners of McDaniel Street in Atlanta's Pittsburgh neighborhood. After hearing about the Atlanta Open for Business Commercial Property Improvement Grant from one of her tenants, Chloe jumped to action to ensure her other business owners also knew of the opportunity. Through the Commercial Property Improvement Grant, four businesses on these three corners were able to renovate their businesses, revitalizing this commercial corridor in turn. Koncept House is an entrepreneur community located in Castleberry Hill. Founder Anthony Gee recognized a need for nontraditional co-working space that provides a creative environment for entrepreneurs. As the waitlist of entrepreneurs continued to grow, Anthony realized they needed a second location. Through the Atlanta Open for Business Commercial Down Payment Assistance program, Koncept House is currently under construction for their second location in Capitol View projected to open in September. #MovingAtlantaForward #BlackBusinessMonth
