NEWS: Today we are happy to announce Inversion has closed a $44M Series A financing to build and deliver Arc, our next gen autonomous re-entry vehicle, that will deliver cargo anywhere on Earth in under an hour. Dan Primack from Axios shares more here: https://lnkd.in/grtFTkGw This round was led by Spark Capital and co-led by Adjacent with participation from Lockheed Martin Ventures, Kindred Ventures, and Y Combinator. We couldn't be more excited to have these partners on board as we scale. At Inversion, we pride ourselves on efficiently delivering amazing products to our customers. We designed, built, and tested Ray, our technology development vehicle which flies in the coming months, with just 25 people and our Seed round we raised in 2021. Arc will open up space as a platform for storage and delivery of cargo. Ocean faring ships made it possible to access the globe in one week, airplanes brought that time down to one day, Arc will make one hour global access common place. We are actively hiring across all roles. We’re looking for a small number of incredibly motivated and driven individuals that want to have a large hand in changing the globe. Today we announced that we have received approval for Ray's first mission. This is a major milestone for the team and paves the way for future delivery missions.
???Big news: Inversion has been granted a re-entry license from the Federal Aviation Administration, and is now the only company besides SpaceX approved to re-enter in the US. This means our Ray spacecraft, launching soon on SpaceX’s Falcon 9 Transporter-12 Rideshare mission, is cleared to return to Earth. The upcoming mission will help us test our technologies and bring us closer to enabling precision delivery from space to anywhere on the planet, in minutes.? Meeting or exceeding regulatory requirements has been a key consideration during our development process from Day 1. Huge thanks to Collin Corey, our Head of Regulatory Licensing, whose expertise allowed us to navigate the process smoothly, and to all of our partners at the FAA for the ongoing collaboration. Meet Ray - our pathfinder re-entry vehicle. Ray will be launching to orbit and returning back to Earth this October and is our first step in making space a transportation layer. We’ve developed nearly all of Ray’s subsystems in-house including parachutes, propulsion, software, structures, GNC, separation systems, and much of the avionics system. This allows us to rapidly transition these systems to our next gen vehicle. Ray's mission consists of three major phases:? 1) In-Space 2) De-Orbit 3) Re-Entry Each of these phases allow us to gather data on different technical and operational aspects of Ray which will inform our next gen vehicle.
