Prioritizing low-low hanging fruit, from our CEO
Sometimes we over complicate things and dont get the ball rolling… Why is recycled cotton the “low-hanging fruit”? 1?? Abundance of Waste: The sheer volume of discarded cotton textiles provides an ample supply for recycling. From post-consumer garments to manufacturing off-cuts, we already have the raw material. 2?? Resource Efficiency: Producing virgin cotton is water-intensive and often relies on pesticides. Recycling cotton dramatically reduces water usage and bypasses the need for additional agricultural inputs. 3?? Existing Technology: Unlike emerging sustainable practices that require extensive R&D, the infrastructure for recycling cotton is already in place. Scaling it is far less complicated than starting from scratch with other materials. 4?? Market Readiness: With increasing consumer demand for sustainable products, brands are eager to integrate recycled fibers into their collections. Recycled cotton aligns perfectly with this trend. Of course, challenges remain—such as maintaining fiber quality and scalability—but these hurdles are not insurmountable. By investing in innovation and partnerships, the industry can optimize the recycling process and truly close the loop. The best part? Adopting recycled cotton isn’t just good for the planet—it’s good for business, offering a compelling narrative of sustainability that resonates with today’s conscious consumers. Let’s prioritize this low-hanging fruit and make circular fashion a reality. #Sustainabletextiles #CircularFashion #Textilerecycling

Textile waste has grown 50% since 2000. Our CEO Jaime E Miguel shares why collaboration is key to creating sustainable solutions. ??
We need to act now, a lot of low hanging fruit to get started and plenty of solutions The rise of fast fashion and limited recycling options have led to a 50% increase in U.S. textile waste between 2000 and 2018, contributing to severe environmental impacts like greenhouse gas emissions and soil contamination. A recent GAO report urges federal collaboration to address this growing challenge. Recommendations include directing federal entities to coordinate efforts and improve textile recycling systems. This is a call to action for policymakers, industry leaders, and environmental advocates to rethink how we manage textile waste and embrace sustainable solutions.
