Last week, The International Center (Indianapolis) had the honor of hosting five visitors from India for the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) focused on Combating Human Trafficking with Technology. On Thursday, the delegation began their day at the Indianapolis International Airport, where they met with representatives from the Indianapolis Airport Authority, Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. They provided?valuable insights into effective practices implemented at the airports, ensuring maximum safety and behavioral awareness in the fight against human trafficking. In the afternoon, the delegation visited Purdue University for a meeting with the Purdue Cyber Forensics Lab, hosted by Professors Kathryn Seigfried-Spellar and Chad Laux PhD. The lab specializes in applied and basic research and provides education, training, and investigative support to law-enforcement agencies in the United States and abroad.? After enjoying cultural activities and home hospitality dinner over the weekend, the delegation met with Captain Peter Glogoza of the Indiana State Police to learn about their strategies for combating human trafficking. These sessions provided valuable insights into the collaborative efforts of various agencies working to enhance public safety and security. Last week, The International Center (Indianapolis) had the honor of hosting five inspiring women from Australia, Japan, and India for the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) focused on Empowering Women?Leaders in STEM in the Quad. On Friday, the delegation began their day at The International Center, where they had a virtual meeting with Paula Angarita Rivera?from SHPE Indiana Professional, learning about how the?Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers supports women in STEM fields. After enjoying cultural activities and home hospitality dinner over the weekend, the delegation traveled to Indiana University Bloomington to meet with the IU Center of Excellence for Women & Technology , where they discussed promoting women’s empowerment and achievement in technology of young girls, female students, faculty, staff, and alumnae. On Tuesday morning, the delegation met with TechPoint, hosted by Dennis Trinkle, Ph.D., to learn about their strategies of leading Indiana’s digital innovation economy with women in leadership roles. In the afternoon, the delegation visited Purdue Polytechnic High Schools, where they had the opportunity to interact with students and share their professional journeys with girls aspiring to careers in STEM. This interactive session was followed by a tour of the school with the lead instructor Drew Goodin, where the delegation learned about the school's efforts to develop and enhance STEM skills in youth education. On November 15, the Morris Series cohort had an inspiring session at the Eli Lilly and Company Corporate Center. The day featured welcome remarks from Dr. Nicolas Chemali, a session on global business expansion by Colin Renk, and a tour of Lilly’s facilities, including its museum and stunning downtown views. The afternoon included a case study with Martin Baier, insights into supply chain management from Dr. Janaina Siegler of Butler University, and an engaging discussion with Dr. Chemali and his Eli Lilly colleagues, sharing their experiences in global business. We’re incredibly grateful to our board member, Maggie (Bishop) Cunningham, for representing The International Center (Indianapolis) at the historic first naturalization ceremony hosted by the Indianapolis International Airport! ???? Last Friday, The International Center was honored to host a welcome reception for Mr. Vitaliy Bunechko, Governor of Zhytomyr Oblast, Ukraine. Earlier this year, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb signed an MOU agreement establishing a sister-state relationship with Zhytomyr focused on academic, agriculture, and cultural exchange. The visiting delegation included business and government leaders along with a special musical performance Zhytomyr Regional Philharmonic Choir.
