Connecticut's largest domestic violence agency committed to preventing and breaking the cycle of intimate partner abuse.
关于我们
Founded in 1977, Interval House is the largest agency in the state of Connecticut dedicated to ending domestic violence. From its inception in the basement of the Asylum Hill Congregational Church by women who wanted to help those who were suffering in silence, Interval House has long been committed to empowering its clients, providing a nurturing and encouraging environment for victims to heal and acquire the tools to move on. Interval House offers immediate and compassionate support to about 6,800 victims of domestic violence per year in 24 cities and towns both East and West of the Connecticut River—all at no charge. The hotline and Safe House provide a lifeline to those in urgent need of safety, and Interval House’s advocates provide guidance for clients facing legal and financial obstacles as a result of leaving a violent home. Interval House’s robust network of partnerships connects clients with community resources aimed at helping them pursue higher education, start careers and live productive, self-sufficient lives in safety. Striving always to help all those in need, Interval House has reached nearly 250,000 people over four decades.

We are proud to have received a $50,000 grant from the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation to support our preventive education intuitive aimed at breaking the cycle of abuse. We are in very good company—other recipients are all addressing critical issues in their communities in innovative and productive ways and we couldn’t be happier to be honored alongside them. Thank you, IICF! ????
Yesterday, the IICF Northeast Division had the privilege of awarding 14 meaningful grants to nonprofit partners making a significant difference in the Tri-State area. We extend our sincere thanks to John D. Gambale, M.B.A. of Allianz, IICF Northeast Division Board Chair, for hosting the grant reception in NYC, and to Jeff Rubin of HUB International, our dedicated Grants Committee Chair for the past five years, who presented the IICF Community Grants. ? This year’s grant recipients include: 180 Turning Lives Around, America's Grow-a-Row, Covenant House New York, East Side House Settlement, Friends of Karen, Fulfill, Interval House, Our Military Kids, Mount Kisco Child Care Center, Ollie's Orchestra, Reading Partners, Strongpoint Theinert Ranch 501(c)3, Table to Table, and WomenRising, Inc. ? These IICF Community Grants are made possible thanks to the ongoing generosity of the insurance industry and the annual IICF Northeast Benefit. Mark your calendars for next year’s event – November 19, 2025! Since 2007, the IICF Northeast Division has awarded over $13.6 million in grants to nonprofit and charitable organizations across the region, with more than $1.1 million granted in 2024 alone. We are exceedingly grateful for partners who, in the spirit of the season, give of themselves to ensure our clients have a happy holiday. Gift card collections make a huge difference in providing survivors both dignity and cheer. Thank you to the amazing employees of Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company (EBAD), Cigna Healthcare, Legrand, Hartford HealthCare, Connecticut Children's, Talcott Financial Group, and Nassau Financial Group for running successful and thoughtful drives. Also to the lovely members of the PEO Sisterhood, the Evans Family, Stable Studio, and the Manchester Young Dems--your love is felt deeply this time of year. We are humbled and grateful. Happy Holidays!

Grateful for our partnership with the American Institute in West Hartford, where Community Convener Maggie just completed 4 sessions on intimate partner violence. We'd love to come to your school to talk about healthy relationships. Educational presentations are free and tailored to students at all levels of education. Offerings of flowers are optional--LOL! Reach out to Maggie today at mtaylor[at]intervalhousect.org to start a conversation. Also--does Maggie's job look interesting to you? We are hiring another Community Convener to join our ranks so we can reach even more young people with critical information about relationships. Apply now at https://lnkd.in/e4FAQvxp

Holiday office parties--yay or nay? However you feel about merriment with Helen from HR, one thing is for certain: A holiday gift card drive for Interval House will bring cheer to any corporate function and help us meet the needs of hundreds of families this time of year. Not to mention, gift cards give financial freedom to our clients along with the dignity to buy the items they choose for their families. Contribute now at https://lnkd.in/engqRmEw.

Did you know that 65% of companies don’t have a formal workplace DV prevention policy? Creating one is critical to providing your employees support and also protecting your company from harm. Here is an interesting article from SHRM on the topic: https://lnkd.in/eSq9_5MF

Looking for a way to engage your workforce while helping others this holiday season? We are in need of gift cards, which provide our clients the opportunity to purchase the presents they want for their kids or to prepare a culturally-relevant holiday meal. To organize a gift card drive for survivors at your work space and/or request a presentation about domestic violence for your colleagues, reach out to Amanda Delaura at [email protected]. The deadline for collections of cards this year is December 6. Thank you for your compassion and consideration!
