Interstate Brick is widely recognized as one of the premier brick manufacturers in the U.S. Established in 1891, Interstate Brick joined the Pacific Coast Building Products family in 1990. The company’s products, used in residential and commercial construction, offer several distinguishing features that motivate architects, builders, and home owners across the country to specify them. The array of colors and unique clay deposits found in Interstate’s extensive mines produce distinct brick products of exceptional quality. Unique shades and a selection of variegated stone hues provide a vivid palette from which architects can create dramatic effects. Interstate Brick can also create custom colors and shapes that extend the creative design possibilities. Interstate Brick produces a full line of brick products including veneer or face brick, thin brick, structural brick, pavers, coping, and custom shapes. These are geared toward both commercial and residential applications. The company’s distinctive products include 16 inch Emperor? face brick and Atlas? Structural brick. Structural brick manufactured up to 16 inches long and 10 inches deep can be reinforced to resist earthquakes, extreme wind conditions, and fire. Structural brick can reduce project scope, schedule and budget through taller, thinner walls that can carry loads. The company employs a team of structural engineers, an architect, interior designer, builder and a mason. This team is educated and equipped to assist clients in designing long-lasting value into their projects that won't need to be "engineered" out. It's always exciting to see how a well-chosen brick blend can transform a buildings aesthetic. There's something about a great brick blend that really brings a project to life!
Production ? Project! ?? While visiting the INTERSTATE BRICK plant in January, I watched our yard services team blend this three-way black mingle prior to packaging and shipping. ??? Last week, while working with Antique Brick & Block and Adam Mcpike in Arkansas I got to walk the jobsite and see the product become part of the project. This Nothing Design Co. Headquarters honors Chicago’s #brick heritage while optimizing light and energy performance. Repurposed and new brick were used to anchor the #design, unifying structure, materiality, and light. Project Spotlight: The new three-story Catherine and Isiah Leggett Math and Science Building at Montgomery College’s Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus offers state-of-the-art learning spaces to equip students with skills for high-demand careers. This sustainable building includes advanced labs, a planetarium, a greenhouse, educational hubs, and flexible event spaces, replacing the college’s old Falcon Hall, Science South, and original greenhouse. The building's design by SmithGroup was thoughtfully shaped through community collaboration, ensuring a balanced vision that meets student needs and respects the neighborhood. For this project, Potomac Valley Brick supplied brick from INTERSTATE BRICK and colored mortar from Argos USA. ??
