Happy Diwali to all at Answer Digital celebrating #Diwali today and tomorrow. And the same to everyone who is celebrating Diwali across the health and social care system. This is a group we certainly couldn't live without... with this being our health, this is meant very literally. There's also no better day to shine a light on the invaluable Interneuron team in Bangalore, and the excellent work that they do to improve healthcare.
Happy Diwali! ?? Although clashing with Halloween, we would like to wish everyone who celebrates, a very happy Diwali. Today Harvey Sembhy has bought some tastey Samosa and Jallebi into the office to share with everyone! If you are not sure what Diwali is or it's signficance, here is what Harvey has to say: What is Diwali? Diwali (or Divali) means 'row of lights' and it is celebrated amongst three religious communities such Hinduism, Jainism and Sikhism. Each community has their own history and values behind Diwali and is celebrated on the same day. What does Diwali mean to Hindus? For the Hindu community. the most widespread custom is the lighting of divas (small clay made lamps filled with oil) on the night of the new moon to invite the presence of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. In Bengal the goddess Kali is worshipped. In North India the festival also celebrates the royal homecoming of Rama (along with Sita, Lakshmana, and Hanuman) to the city of Ayodhya after defeating Ravana, the 10-headed king of the demons. What does Diwali mean to Jainism? For the Jain community, the festival commemorates the enlightenment and liberation (moksha) of Mahavira, the most recent of the Jain Tirthankaras, from the cycle of life and death (samsara). The lighting of the lamps celebrates the light of Mahavira’s holy knowledge. What does Diwali mean to Sikhism? For the Sikh community, Diwali is represented as Bandi Chhor Divas which means liberation of prisoners day. According to tradition, Guru Hargobind was released from prison in Gwalior and reached Amritsar on Divali. He would only agree to leave prison if 52 Hindu princes who were in prison with him could also go free. The Emperor Jahangir, said that those who clung to the Guru's coat would be able to go free. This was meant to limit the number of prisoners who could be released. However, Guru Hargobind had a coat made with 52 tassels attached to it so that all of the princes could leave prison with him. The story reminds Sikhs of freedom and human rights and this is what they celebrate on Bandi Chhor Divas. How is Diwali celebrated? Hindus, Sikhs and Jains decorate houses, shops and public places in India with small oil lamps called divas. These lamps are often placed in rows in windows, doors and outside buildings as decoration. Electric lights too are used in Divali displays and fireworks are also a big part of the Divali celebrations. Divali is a time for giving and receiving gifts. traditionally, sweets and dried fruit are exchanged.

We love sharing our teams stories! It’s incredible to see the strides that Luke made in such a short time, especially with 41 industry events and onboarding two new clients—impressive! Wow, how time flies. It's 6 months since I joined employee-owned tech consultancy Answer Digital. The first few months has been a real experience. Growing the business in the NHS by developing new growth strategies and winning new projects where we can add value to #digitalhealth #healthtech and #digitaltransformation has been my focus. ? I have been getting in some serious travel by attending 41 industry events in those 6 months - that's definitely a personal record and must be getting close to maxing out what's possible for an event calendar. That has been hugely fruitful at getting the word out there about the excellent work Answer Digital do and is opening a lot of doors. ?? That door-opening has already led me to onboarding two new customers to the Answer Digital community, with several more looking to join us in the coming weeks and months. ?? Overall, it has been great to be involved in so much of what is hot in the #healthcareIT world - that spans so many things from EPRs, remote patient monitoring, artificial intelligence in diagnostic imaging, interoperability, and data modelling, standards & visualisation. It has also been a lot of fun scaling the Interneuron product. Already we've found that the appetite is significant to disrupt the fairly stale #EPR and #ePMA markets, so I'm excited to see what we can achieve. Finding and onboarding new partners has opened up new horizons for what can be achieved by collaboration in healthcare, from some of the largest global tech companies, to bootstrapped tech innovators. Meeting lots of new colleagues has exposed me to so much deep subject matter expertise, although exposed them to some questionable puns...

Sharing of learning within and across sectors and countries is important to solve some of the key challenges of healthcare. We don't do enough of that and risk reinventing the wheel when others have already solved a problem. The Bupa Healthcare Symposium has got off to a good start doing just that. Shifting care from being in big hospitals to being in the community is one of those big shifts needed that I'm keen to learn more about today for Answer Digital, and there's useful perspectives from both the NHS and independent sectors, as well as from other healthcare systems internationally. Also pretty cool to hear new perspectives from Olympic legend Michael Johnson on healthcare! #digitalhealth #healthtech #digitaltransformation

Even more events next week! On Tuesday, I will be attending the Qlik event, who Answer Digital already partner with on data visualisation projects in the NHS. The event "AI Reality Tour" is focused on using AI to meaningfully improve organisational outcomes; that's welcome as the AI hype is finally making way for something new and real! Wednesday will be the Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN) Quality Forum, where I'm looking forward to discussing how good quality data can support the independent hospital sector to improve the quality of care. Friday will be an internal Answer Digital day, but perhaps the most fun, as we reconvene in Leeds for our quarterly business review and social - always great to catch up with colleagues.

An exciting day ahead at BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT's "Faculty of Health and Care Inaugural Conference" at Goodenough College. This is the first event of this kind held by BCS, so I'm excited to see how it goes. But the agenda is packed with a lot of topics Answer Digital are experts in, such as healthcare data analysis, interoperability and digital pharmacy/ePMA. Let me know if you're here.
