IMR provides sustainable community health education, training, medical and dental care and disaster response globally.

关于我们

International Medical Relief (IMR) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides health care to under-served and vulnerable people around the world. IMR recruits qualified medical, dental, and surgical teams and offers short-term assignments for volunteer doctors, dentists, and other health care professionals as well as non-medical volunteers to conduct medical clinics in areas where medical care is limited or difficult to obtain. IMR was founded on the belief that knowledge of basic health facts and access to health care should not be the prerogative of select nations, regions, or classes, but should be shared by as many people as possible. While IMR operates sustainable, long-term solutions in our communities, global health volunteers ofter participate for one to two weeks beyond our borders. Our work is undertaken to include some of the millions of people who have been excluded from today’s healthcare systems worldwide. Through partnerships with local medical professionals and the entire community with regard to education, diagnosis, and treatment a valuable sharing of knowledge occurs. This empowers people in limited resource settings to provide for their own health and for each other. IMR contributes to the world’s communities by improving the overall health and wellness of the people via medical diagnosis and treatment, partnerships with local medical designees, community training, and fostering the principles of prevention. The success of our trips is fully dependent on our partnerships in the countries we serve. Our goal is to establish long-term relationships that allow us to revisit each of the communities in which we work every year. We partner with in-country hosts willing to make a multi-year commitment for the benefit of the communities that we serve. With our medical team, support staff, and the health care supplies and medicines that we will bring with us, we will be able to see hundreds of patients each clinic day.

This spring break a team from?Denver College of Nursing?volunteering with International Medical Relief embarked on a transformative global health mission to?the Philippines, embodying the spirit of compassionate care and making a tangible impact on underserved communities. Volunteering to help others as a nurse, both domestically and internationally, stands as the pinnacle of service. This spring break a team from?Denver College?of Nursing and International Medical Relief embarked on a transformative global health mission to?the Philippines, embodying the spirit of compassionate care and making a tangible impact on underserved communities. Led by IMR Clinic Director,?Phillip Caballa, and DCN faculty member, Dr.?Angela Richard, PhD, RN, NPD-BC and nine pre-licensure BSN students provided essential healthcare services to remote areas of?the Philippines. The expedition took the team to Barangays Marbatuan and Mebio, where they encountered communities in dire need of medical attention. These areas, home to the Manabo tribe, often lack access to basic healthcare facilities, with residents enduring hardships such as malnutrition and limited sanitation facilities. Despite the challenges, the team worked tirelessly to deliver comprehensive care to over 500 patients who lacked regular access to healthcare services. Through stations dedicated to community education, vital signs and triage, physician assessment and treatment, pharmacy services, and laboratory testing, the team addressed a myriad of health issues ranging from chronic conditions like hypertension and diabetes to acute ailments such as infections and wounds. IMR President and Founder,?Shauna King?stated, "The Barangay tribes lead humble lives devoid of modern amenities like running water relying on communal bonds and familial ties to navigate their daily lives. This limited resource setting is composed of beach, jungle and mountainous areas where people walk from the barrios to care for their needs. As field laborers and fisherman, they rarely make it to the city and go years without healthcare." Reflecting on the experience,?Andrea LeClaire, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, shared, " I have been on several global health trips with hospitals and schools. This trip was the best one yet! We learned so much about the culture and the food and accomplished holistic care. The organization, staff, and supplies provided by IMR allowed the population to be treated effectively, and we felt we had made a difference." The impact of their work extended beyond mere medical treatment. At the community education station, nursing students imparted invaluable knowledge on topics such as hygiene practices and oral care, empowering locals to take charge of their health and well-being. read more: https://lnkd.in/ggH-g-S7

352 days. On February 6, 2023, the ground shook in Turkey. A magnitude 7.8 struck southern Turkey, close to the northern border of Syria. Roughly nine hours later, another earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5 occurred approximately 59 miles (95 kilometers) to the southwest. That day, the world changed for our friends in Turkey. As we reflect on the challenging year since the earthquakes in Turkey, IMR and our volunteers are standing with the resilient people of Hatay on their journey to recovery. A devoted team of doctors and a pharmacist are currently on the ground, tirelessly working to make a difference. For as long as it takes, IMR will be there, delivering health and hope! #internationalmedicalrelief #bethegood #turkiyestrong #WeAreOneFamily #turkey #disasterresponse #disasterpreparedness #medicalrelief

Dr. Sarah, Ophthalmologist shared, "Just returned from an incredibly rewarding medical/dental mission trip with International Medical Relief (IMR) to Quito, Ecuador with my son Eli! ???????? The past week has been nothing short of life-changing as we worked closely with a dedicated team of volunteers and medical and dental professionals from all over the US & Ecuador to provide much-needed medical and dental care to those in need. The resilience, warmth, and strength of the people we met in Quito left a lasting impression on us. It was a reminder of the universal power of compassion and kindness, and the importance of coming together to help one another, no matter where we come from. Eli and I shared countless unforgettable moments as we contributed to a cause greater than ourselves. I had the chance to prescribe over 40 pairs of glasses, give out over 50 pairs of sunglasses, and evaluate a wide age range of Ophthalmology patients (from a 1 month old with NLD obstruction to many patients in their mid 80’s). Eli spent his time cleaning and sterilizing the dental equipment, assisting the dentists with their procedures, and even performing basic dental hygiene. The rest of our medical team treated a wide variety of concerns (hypertension, diabetes, UTI’s, dehydration), and the dental team (sponsored by Aspen Dental) truly changed lives with two 3D printers that created custom dentures, and performed dozens of necessary cleanings and procedures. Every moment was filled with gratitude and a sense of purpose. Eli and I were truly humbled by the warmth and gratitude of the people we met, and the amazing team that we had the honor to work with. Unfortunately, our journey was cut short by political unrest in Ecuador. However, I am so grateful for the time I did get to spend in Quito, and am determined to go back (and hopefully visit the equator and the Galapagos this time!) Thank you to everyone who supported us on this journey with your donations! We brought 3 large checked bags full of donated supplies! It was so appreciated by the local community! Please know that your donations truly made a positive difference ??. Eli and I are already looking into our next mission trip together (although we may need to catch up on sleep first). This journey has reminded us to appreciate how truly lucky we are, and the fact that a small act of kindness can have a huge impact on someone's life." #IMR #MedicalMission #AspenDental #InternationalMedicalRelief #Gratitude #EcuadorExperience #QuitoEcuador #Gratitude #MakingADifference #MotherSonMissionTrip #CommunityCare ??????
