This year's challenge brought together teams from 18 schools across 14 countries, comprising students of 26 nationalities. The teams competed intensely over four weeks, focusing on improving their hotels' market performance, financials, guest satisfaction, and associate engagement. ? And the winner is - Hotel Management School NHL Stenden operated by Sophie, Zuzana, and Pavel under the supervision of Joke Tasma. Boma International Hospitality College, with their team Hotel Lulu, took second place overall but led their group. ? We extend our deepest appreciation to Heidi Anaya for moderating this year's challenge and to Russell Partnership Technology for their exceptional organization and execution. Your efforts have made this event a significant success. ? Thank you to all the participants for your hard work and dedication. ??STUDENT SPOTLIGHT?? CHRIE FutureFund? is pleased to recognize Hyei Rin (Hayley) Joo as a 2025 Conference Best Paper Award Winner. Hayley Joo is a PhD student at Iowa State University in the Department of Apparel, Events, and Hospitality Management and a 2025 Best Paper Winner. Her paper, 'Elevating hotel event experiences for all: A multi-theory framework for neuroinclusion, consensus building, and co-value', was presented at the Graduate Research Conference in Houston, and co-authored with faculty advisor Ching-hui (Joan) Su. At the Trendcongress Tourism keynote Prof. Dr. Willy Legrand talks about the world as a living system. He sees?tourism and hospitality as a sympoietic system where living, eco and social systems work together to regenerative integrated force. “We are all called to be architects of the future, not its victims”, says Legrand for an audience of 250 professionals. “We have to get out of our bubble to design the regenerative future of hospitality, tourism and leisure. We can be the planetary stewards. We have to see the world as a living system and reimaging our role as hosts." In a recent article published in Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research, Nan Chen(陳楠) and Cathy Hsu (School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University) disclosed family tourists’ dynamic emotional experiences through probing into their emotion generative and regulatory process Through interviewing members from an extended Chinese family throughout the pre-, during- and post-trip phases of a 6-day overseas trip: ?? Thirteen emotion regulation strategies (with 64 emotional episodes & 32 discrete emotions) were identified from EDA-assisted interviews ?? Their emotion-generation and regulation were revealed as an interdependent and cyclical cognitive appraisal process that occurs in complex social settings ??
