International Union of Painters and Allied Trades

IUPAT DC 4 of WNY & CNY in Western New York has partnered with local Native tribes like the Seneca Nation, who make joining as easy as possible for those who want to do so. Members like Mackenzie Sweich are seizing the opportunities our union can provide and learning a trade that can uplift both them and their families.

Our union's trades build essential and safe infrastructures that benefit our communities and shape how we live, like hospitals. Glaziers from IUPAT District Council 81 Local 581, Cordell Hughes and Brad Howard, are currently installing panels at the Marion Mercy Hospital emergency room.

Our apprenticeship programs, instructors, and apprentices themselves are some of the most important facets of our union. Apprenticeships are how every single member of our union learns their trade and how to work safely. Thank you!

IUPAT members are highly skilled at what they do, and that’s in part because of the robust training opportunities they receive from the moment they start. In honor of National Apprenticeship Week, we want to celebrate all of our hardworking apprentices. Our Glaziers work hard, day in and day out, to build up Cedar Rapids and ensure every building is done safely. We’d like to spotlight Brother Jake Fish, a member of IUPAT District Council 81 Glaziers Local 581, who is currently working at Cedar Rapids Bank and Trust installing a 1/2 Glazing system at the new bank.

It is our duty as unionists to expand the opportunities of our union to as many people as possible! We’d like to welcome IUPAT District Council 77 Glazier’s Local 1940 new member, Matthew Odom, who was sworn in by President, Mark Wiggins.

We’d like to spotlight the great work of IUPAT District Council 21 for recently partnering with Rowan University and offering District Council 21 members the opportunity to earn both graduate and undergraduate degrees on a flexible schedule!

We’d like to congratulate Charles Kroll for receiving his FTI New England challenge coin. Charles recently completed all of his training and graduated from the Glazing Apprentice program. Keep up the great work, brother!
