Wonderful to see this natural history study in Alport Syndrome published in Kidney International Reports,representing an important collaboration between academia, industry, and the Alport Syndrome Foundation. Shout outs to Oliver Gross, Michelle Rheault, Bertrand Knebelmann, Shiguang Liu, Qi Zhang, Yuqian Shen (and more team members at #Sanofi as well as other academic authors) plus André Weinstock & Lisa Bonebrake at #AlportSyndrome Foundation (ASF) on this accomplishment. This research paper will inform design of future clinical trials in Alport Syndrome and have a major impact in this rare genetic kidney disease.

I am proud to share an op-ed I wrote for The Parliament in collaboration with Marianne Silkj?r Nielsen and EKHA - European Kidney Health Alliance President Prof. Em. Raymond Vanholder on the urgent need to prioritize kidney health. It is is published today at World Kidney Day and highlights that 100 million Europeans are living with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), yet many remain undiagnosed. Despite its growing impact CKD is still widely overlooked in healthcare policies. The article presents five key recommendations developed by patient representatives and international opinion leaders on kidney health. These recommendations aim to improve early detection, access to care, and political commitment to kidney health.

The autoimmune architecture of childhood idiopathic nephrotic syndrome Kidney International (2025) 107, 271–279; https://lnkd.in/d6bZDY6b - Accumulating body evidence supporting a humoral autoimmune aetiology for INS - Following an immune trigger, most notably viral infection, the podocyte reactive B cells cause APA-producing PBs and podocytopathic MBCs through rituximab-sensitive extrafollicular Bcell responses. -The chronic production of autoreactive antibodies by bone marrow–residing long-lived PCs, which are resistant to glucocorticoid or anti–CD20-based treatments, is predicted to participate in therapy resistance in other autoimmune settings. For all the above and additional considerations expressed in the paper about molecular B-Cell activation, interesting opportunities to target BAFF/APRIL signalling pathway in childhood INS.
