Day 4 Highlights and Farewell from the 21st ISRP International Conference! As we wrap up this incredible week at the ISRP conference, Day 4 was filled with insightful presentations and discussions focusing on?community use of respiratory protection?and research from the?FACE-UP project, addressing how children in low- and middle-income countries can be protected from air pollution. Claire Horwell?from Durham University started the day with her keynote presentation,?"Public Use of Respiratory Protection for Natural and Anthropogenic Particulate Pollution Exposure."?Claire's talk highlighted critical issues surrounding respiratory protection for communities affected by both natural and human-caused particulate pollution. ???Community Protection in Focus Throughout the day, we heard from experts discussing the performance and fit of child-sized respirators in?Indonesia and Nepal, ethical considerations for recommending masks to children, and innovative solutions for informing the public about proper use of facepieces. These sessions provided a deep dive into the challenges and possibilities of community-level respiratory protection, particularly for vulnerable populations. ???Final Papers and Filtration Research The afternoon featured presentations on topics ranging from?polymer liners in composite tanks?to?innovative filtration techniques?for chemical and gas protection. Experts?shared cutting-edge research that will drive future advancements in respiratory protection. As we reflect on the past four days, it's clear that the ISRP conference has once again brought together some of the brightest minds in the field to tackle critical issues facing global respiratory safety. The second day of the conference featured engaging sessions, insightful presentations, and robust discussions on respiratory protection, with a special focus on healthcare settings and CBRN applications. Darren Mann?from the Royal Army Medical Corps kicked off the morning with his keynote presentation,?"National Personal Protective Equipment Programme (NPPEP) for the Covid-19 Pandemic – Lessons Learned."?Darren shared the challenges and successes of the NPPEP during the pandemic, offering valuable lessons for future healthcare and emergency response efforts. ???Informative Sessions The morning sessions explored the implementation of?Elastomeric Half Mask Respirators in Healthcare, with presentations from experts like?Jonisha Pollard,?Stella Hines, and?Youcheng Liu. They discussed practical applications, lessons learned, and future needs for these respirators in healthcare and emergency settings. Later, discussions focused on engineering controls for airborne diseases, leakage from surgical and FFP3 masks, and the importance of addressing mesothelioma risks. Exhibitions Attendees explored cutting-edge respiratory protection products in the exhibition hall while enjoying a networking lunch. ???CBRN Protection in Focus In the afternoon,?Session 7: CBRN?provided global insights into Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear protection.
