IPC Executive Vice President Kathy Jello and Dr. Mark Chung presented this year's James L. Chung Memorial Scholarships to Lucas Brito Drumond and Mariana Otalora Chavez who attend the School of Visual Arts in New York City at this past week's IPC Professional Photographer Awards Luncheon at the United Nations. Once again, we were honored to have Melissa Fleming, Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications, United Nations join us for our annual Professional Photographer Awards Luncheon. She welcomed everyone back to the United Nations in celebration of our 50th anniversary of the International Photographic Council. “On this very special occasion, we think of the late Mr. James Chung, who had the vision to establish the IPC, and for almost five decades, led the organization, said Melissa Fleming.” “I am very pleased to meet Dr. Mark Chung again here today. The legacy of Mr. Chung lives on – not only in the traditional IPC awards luncheons that take place at the United Nations, but also in the scholarship named after him.” She announced that the United Nations we will soon launch the UN Global Principles for Information Integrity, full of recommendations for healthy information environments and mentioned everyone in the room has a role to play and “let your images spread the word.”

Viral epic photographer and visual artist Benjamin Von Wong was honored with the first IPC Professional Photographer Environmental Achievement Award this past week for his dedication and mission to help make a positive impact on the world’s environment. Industry leaders in attendance were wowed by his imagery and special video presentation around the magnitude of the global problem with single use plastic and leaving a special message for all of us to “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Refill.” Several guests received beautiful prints courtesy of Benjamin and H&H Color Lab.
