I was named the Volunteer of the Year at the Mentorship and Volunteering Excellence Awards (MVEA) 2024.Hurrayyyy!!???? Honestly, I had no idea this was coming, and I’m still processing the surprise. This award is one of the most meaningful moments in my life, not because of the recognition, but because it’s a reminder of what it means to serve with heart. Volunteering has been at the core of who I am since my first year in college,and to be honored for it is something I’ll cherish forever. What does it mean to truly inspire change? Winning the 'Inspiring Change Award' at the 5th edition of the Mentorship & Volunteerism Excellence Awards event is an honour that fills me with pride, but this title belongs to more than just me. It reflects the values instilled by my parents, the encouragement of my siblings, and the guidance of countless mentors who’ve helped shape the person I am today. From industry leaders to former bosses, many have taken me under their wing, offering not just their wisdom but a safe space to grow. They empowered me to embrace change, which in turn has allowed me to help others transform their businesses and lives. I’m immensely grateful to all who nominated and voted for me, and most importantly, to the mentees who have trusted me to be a part of their journey toward change. Although there are many names to mention, I must highlight Michael Heiss, under whom I worked at Siemens #OpenInnovation. The department itself was transforming, evolving into a technology Innovation Management section. Under Micheal's guidance I transitioned from open innovation to technology scout, wrote my first research papers for IEEE, launched my second startup, and dived deep into the world of #bigdata and #AI. The 360 feedback sessions lessons learned are things I use in my mentoring today, shaping the advice and insights I share with my mentees. Very transformative years.
