  • ILO is working with the govt, employers and workers to develop a first ever National Employment Policy for the Solomon Islands. A National Employment Policy is a government's plan to create jobs, improve working conditions, and ensure fair wages for all workers. It may include strategies to reduce unemployment, support businesses or provide training opportunities for workers. It matters because it helps people find stable employment, reduces poverty and strengthens the economy while fostering inclusion and promoting social stability. A well-planned employment policy also prepares workers for future jobs by focusing on skills development and education, ensuring a stronger workforce for the country’s long-term success.
