On March 16th, as Vice President of UNC Charlotte’s Asian Student Association, I had the pleasure of helping host our 2nd Annual Hello Asia Night Market. This year’s event was a massive success, with over 350 attendees! It was incredible to see so many people dressed in traditional wear, bringing their families along to celebrate and honor the diverse Asian identities that make up our student and local community at Charlotte. We were able to showcase incredible local AAPI performers, student vendors, and non-profits like International House, IMPACT Asian Americans of NC, Project SoL NC, and Project Downtown Charlotte. Their contributions truly enriched the event and made the night even more special. A huge thank you to our amazing food sponsors (Suvidha, Banh Mi Brothers, Sharetea, KPOT, Seoul Food Meat Company, and Mustard Catering) for making the event possible and providing delicious food! I also want to give a heartfelt thanks to ASA alumni Tabitha Adaya and Florence Uy for their generous donations, which helped bring this event to life! A special shout-out to ASA's Executive Board and KASA (Korean American Student Association) for the fantastic collaboration. This event wouldn't have been possible without the hard work and dedication of everyone. Despite the challenges we've faced with the removal of DEI, we are proud to host an event that created a safe space for our community and students to come together. We hope to continue offering spaces such as these where we can embrace diversity and foster change where everyone, regardless of background, can feel supported, empowered, and encouraged to make a positive impact. I’m so proud of what we accomplished together and grateful to everyone who contributed—whether as performers, vendors, or attendees. Your involvement made Hello Asia an unforgettable night, and I’m so excited to see how this event will continue to grow in the future!
