I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve underprivileged communities in the Dominican Republic through my medical internship with the International Health Alliance from December 15th to 22nd, 2024. During this transformative experience, I assisted over 260 patients and completed more than 40 hours of clinical and shadowing work. I developed key administrative skills, including patient intake, record-keeping, and pharmaceutical management, while also gaining hands-on experience in emergency wound treatment, gynecological care, pediatric medicine, and patient education. Not only did I form meaningful friendships and professional connections that I will foster for a lifetime, but I also experienced the beauty of the city of Punta Cana. I would like to thank all my fellow interns and the doctors on this trip - Dr. Cristal Pride, the CEO of IHA, Dr. Angie Pinales, Dr. Victor Gomez Cabral, Dr. Carlos Garcia, Dr. Esmeralda Cristina Nu?ez Javier, Dr. Carla Lee, Dr. Ediezel Cuello Silvestre, and Dr. Salvador Colmenàrez - for all that you have taught me. Finally, I would like to thank the Stamps Scholars Program for supporting me with the dream enrichment fund, enabling me to participate in this medical mission trip. This internship reinforced my passion for healthcare, highlighting how medicine and service can profoundly improve lives. I look forward to continuing to serve and create lasting impact through similar opportunities.
