Dear Members, It is with profound sadness that I share the passing of our dear friend and colleague,?Sean P. Broderick?of Procter & Gamble, who served as Chairman of our Government & Legislative Affairs Executive Committee.? After suffering a sudden health emergency last week, Sean passed away peacefully on?February?20, 2025,?with his family by his side. Sean was a remarkable force within FCA—someone who tirelessly championed sound policy and science-based solutions that benefit businesses, consumers, and communities everywhere.?He also cared deeply about the well-being of our workers, ensuring their needs were recognized and valued in everything we did.? On Capitol Hill, Sean’s warmth, integrity, and genuine compassion were clear to all who met him; he was always greeted with smiles and hugs from members of Congress and their staff. In tribute to Sean’s extraordinary impact on the fragrance value chain, the advocacy community, and the countless lives his work touched, FCA is honoring his life and legacy in two ways: 1. Posthumously presenting Sean with the 2025 Bruell Award, to be formally conferred at the?FCA Spring Dinner on April 23, 2025, at the?Westmount Country Club?in New Jersey.? One of FCA’s highest honors, the Bruell Award is bestowed upon individuals who exhibit exemplary service and leadership within our community.? 2. Renaming the Extraordinary Leadership Award?to the?Sean P. Broderick Extraordinary Leadership Award.? Created to recognize visionaries in the fragrance industry, this award now carries Sean’s name to reflect his unwavering dedication, courage, and grace—qualities he demonstrated daily, especially while guiding our industry through the challenges of the pandemic. In 2016, Sean rolled up his sleeves and helped us reimagine and rebuild FCA’s Government Affairs department into the top-tier program we know today.?In 2021,?he received?the Fragrance Creators’ Extraordinary Leadership Award, reflecting the steady hand, empathy, and bravery he displayed during the pandemic and beyond. Friends, family, and colleagues will gather at the Spring Dinner on April 23 at the Westmount Country Club in New Jersey to celebrate Sean’s life and legacy. Valentine's Day is one of the Fragrance Creators Association most cherished occasions. After all, at its core, fragrance is an “emotional chemistry” that seamlessly blends art and science to spark love in all its forms—bringing to life some of our most treasured memories and heartfelt connections. One fascinating example of how science meets sentiment is?δ-1-(2,6,6-Trimethyl-3-cyclohexen-1-yl)-2-buten-1-one. Complex and robust, it smells like a perfect blend of roses, dark-colored berries, and tobacco. We believe love drives great leadership. For myself and the FCA team, it ignites a sense of purpose like no other, inspiring us to help our industry deliver more love for people, perfume, and the planet. Happy Valentine's Day everyone!?

As she transitions to a new chapter, we wish her all the best and commit to continue serving as a trustworthy, responsive, and reliable resource to Dr. Prashiela Manga, Acting Director of Office of Cosmetics, and her team to build upon the strong foundation Dr. Katz has laid.
