The new website includes an updated complaint form, a more mobile friendly format for consumers to report international scams, and updated additional steps that consumers can take to resolve their complaints. ? Econsumer.gov was created by ICPEN members to gather and share consumer complaints about international scams and is available in nine languages. ?? ICPEN is pleased to announce that the award ceremony for the 2024 Consumer Protection Contest, where winners and honorable mentions were revealed, concluded on September 27th, 2024, during the ICPEN Fall Conference in Washington, D.C., United States. ?? This contest aimed to highlight exemplary implementation, enforcement, and compliance practices in consumer protection, showcasing how these efforts empowered consumers with accurate information and protected them from unfair and deceptive practices. Success stories from consumer protection authorities demonstrated tangible results of consumer protection work under three themes: ?? Partnering with third parties ?? Complaint handling ?? Topics ranged from the evolving world of artificial intelligence and the fast-growing online gaming industry to strategies for case prioritization and fostering international enforcement cooperation. ???? Attendees also had the chance to explore key projects on the horizon for the upcoming year. Adding to the event's significance, a high-level closed-door meeting took place, where leaders discussed critical next steps in shaping the future of consumer protection in an increasingly digital world.
