The International Community Foundation (ICF) works across borders to connect people, ideas, and smarter investments in the transformative power of community. Established in 1990, the International Community Foundation has a proven track record in strategic international grant making. To further its mission, ICF spearheads coalitions on a variety of important causes and also represents over 1,000 donors with diverse international interests. To achieve real economies of scale, the majority of the foundation’s grantmaking is focused on supporting nonprofits in the Baja Peninsula and Sea of Cortez region. A couple of our Environment Team members attended the Environmental Grantmakers Association 2024 Fall Retreat this week! ?? On Monday, Yamilett Carrillo, Assistant Director of the Binational Resilience Initiative (BRI) at SDF, led an insightful session along with Marisa Aurora Quiroz, President and CEO of International Community Foundation and two BRI grantees: Sofia Han-Hernand, CEO of Uniting Natives Culturally and Intertribally (UNCI, Inc.) and Marco C. Amador, Development Coordinator at Promotora de las Bellas Artes. They discussed how BRI is helping our binational region adapt to the impacts of climate change by leveraging existing cross-border connectivity and resources. ??
