?? Big news from #COP29! Standards Australia and the International Code Council have just announced the development of a Universal Data Protocol (UDP) and the release of a comprehensive whitepaper. This initiative aims to harness data from the built environment to support robust and reliable environmental reporting. With the built environment playing a crucial role in the fight against #climatechange, the UDP will address the current challenges of fragmented and unusable data. By enabling transparent and verifiable data exchange, the protocol will facilitate effective reporting and compliance across the industry. Key benefits include: ??Decentralised verification ??Interoperability ??Digital security ??Common language ??Open-source access Together with PyxGlobal, Standards Australia and the International Code Council are committed to making this vision a reality. ?? Read more about the project: https://lnkd.in/d9DCg2uC ? Always a pleasure speaking with Thomas Heaton at Honolulu Civil Beat on the critical importance of adopting, implementing, and enforcing the latest editions of model building codes. Glad to see Hawaii Governor Josh Green and his administration leading the way on adopting the 2024 editions of the International Code Council model codes. The state legislature should follow suit by funding professional staff (Executive Director/Executive Assistant) for the State Building Code Commission that have been authorized under Hawaii Revised Statutes since 2007. This is but one example of the hard work remaining to be done following the 2023 Maui wildfires.
