What an incredible few days at our Annual General Meeting in San Antonio last week! Our top tier presenters discussed everything from advocacy, technology, and leadership, to championing women in the industry and recommendations for drilling?geothermal wells. Making this year’s meeting even more special, we welcomed 37 students from IADC Student Chapters who joined us for this important industry event. Congratulations to Brad James?for being named the 2024 IADC Contractor of the Year! This prestigious award honors individual drilling contractors for their lifetime achievements within the drilling industry. We also recognized Adam Keith, Lee Womble, & David Faure?with Exemplary Service Awards for their outstanding contributions to IADC and their commitment to improving and advancing safety, training, & technology across the drilling sector. Yesterday was a milestone moment for Flipping The Barrel as Jamie Elrod took the stage at the International Association of Drilling Contractors Annual General Meeting to share her insights during the Championing Women in the Drilling Industry session. The conversation, moderated by Bill Pickering of Precision Drilling and Amelia Nelson of Noble Corporation, was a dialogue about the barriers women face in the drilling industry and the transformative impact of representation. Jamie emphasized that change doesn’t happen overnight, but every story told, every barrier broken, and every ally who steps up makes a difference. From her journey as a Field Sales Rep to co-founding Flipping The Barrel, Jamie’s message was clear: “???????????????????????????? ??????????????, it shouldn’t stop at getting women into the room—let’s also create an environment where they feel seen, heard, and empowered to thrive.” And this session was extra special for another reason: Jamie’s youngest daughter, ??????????????, made her debut at her first speaking engagement, witnessing her mom lead the charge for a more inclusive energy industry. On THIS VERY DAY in 1941, over 300 industry pioneers gathered in Dallas for IADC’s first Annual General Meeting. That remarkable turnout sent a clear message: our industry is stronger when we work together. As we convene in San Antonio for our 2024 Annual General Meeting on these same historic November dates, that spirit of collaboration remains at our core. Welcome to day one of AGM 2024, everybody!
