IACP 1st Vice President David Rausch and Director of Global Policing Matt Langer were honored to take part in the Australia New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency (ANZPAA) conference in Melbourne, Australia. Focusing on the future of policing, the conference had many outstanding presentations as well as a panel discussion on crowd management techniques that Director Rausch participated in. Thank you to our colleagues in Australia and New Zealand for putting on a wonderful conference.

The IACP has released a new comprehensive survey report highlighting the significant and continuing challenges in police recruitment and retention across the United States. The survey, conducted in the summer of 2024, gathered responses from more than 1,100 police agencies, revealing critical insights into the current state of law enforcement staffing which underscores the urgent need for comprehensive strategies to address the recruitment and retention crisis in policing. On November 14, under the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety, the IACP delivered enforcement training in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to the first cohort of traffic agents from the Agencia de Tránsito y Movilidad (ATM). The cohort consisted of two specialized groups: speed enforcement and impaired driving enforcement. The graduates will subsequently lead enforcement operations of the ATM with their newly acquired skills. Additional cohorts will begin their training in 2025.

IACP President Ken Walker and Director Vince Hawkes attended the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners and the National Police Chiefs' Council Summit in the United Kingdom. With the theme of "Global Risks and Local Responses - Positive Policing for the Future," the event brought together senior leaders, politicians, experts and decision makers to discuss the need for police reform in this global environment.

IACP’s Mass Violence Advisory Initiative has released a new podcast: Supporting the Support System After Tragedy. Mass violence tragedies cause deep and wide-reaching impacts in their aftermath. On November 7-8, 2024, under the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety, the IACP visited Buenos Aires, Argentina, to deliver a mental wellness training to 150 DGCATRA traffic agents.
