"The world's oldest and largest forensics practitioner organization!"
关于我们
The International Association for Identification (IAI) is the oldest and largest association of forensic professionals in the world. IAI members represent the international public, private, and government agencies that encompass forensic science and law enforcement. The active membership ranges from beginning forensic practitioners to seasoned and experienced practitioners, many of whom are considered forensic experts. Many IAI members are certified in their respective forensic fields and have received their IAI certification through a series of written and practical examinations. The IAI was formed to pursue the following objectives: 1. To associate persons who are engaged in the profession of forensic identification, investigation, and scientific examination of physical evidence in an organized body so that the profession may be standardized and effectively and scientifically practiced 2. To encourage the enlargement and improvement of the forensic sciences 3. To encourage research in the forensic sciences 4. To keep its members appraised of the latest techniques and discoveries in the forensic sciences 5. To employ the collective wisdom of the profession to advance the forensic sciences 6. To provide training, education, and the publication of information in forensic science disciplines represented by the association

I had an incredible experience at the 108th International Association for Identification Educational Conference in Reno, NV. Each year, I make it a goal to meet new people and expand my knowledge, and this year was no exception. The conference featured many outstanding presentations, with Alice (Maceo) White's session being a standout. Her exceptional transparency and leadership in the forensic community continue to inspire me. It was wonderful to see both new faces and reconnect with colleagues who have supported me throughout my career, including those who were there from the very beginning. I was also honored to present a case study and was reelected to the Crime Scene Certification Board. Talking shop with some of the top CSIs in the field is always a highlight of these conferences, and I’m excited to serve another term.

Thank you to the International Association for Identification for an outstanding 108th Educational Conference! ?? Aaron has just returned, and it was an amazing experience! He showcased how the forensic-register cuts down the time taken to identify individuals from #crimescene fingerprints, helping to prevent and disrupt criminal activities. The conference was highly focused on addressing the needs of practitioners, drawing over 1,300 attendees from all #forensic disciplines. The atmosphere was dynamic, with strong interest in digital #fingerprint workflows. Progressive practices like Evaluative Reporting and Linear Sequential Unmasking are gaining wider acceptance in the forensic community, providing more opportunities for the forensic-register to meet future practitioner needs. We’re really excited by how the forensic-register stands out with its fully digital workflows and extensive capabilities, and the opportunities to continually grow these along with the evolving field of #forensicscience.?

As we celebrate another #NationalForensicScienceWeek, I encourage everyone to look to the future of Forensic Science, especially the future of Friction Ridge Identification. Seven Friction Ridge standards and best practices are now on the OSAC Registry with another nine documents from ASB in the approval process for the Registry (https://lnkd.in/gSrNbAEE). Now is the time to review and update policies and procedures so that we can face the future with consistency. Matching algorithms are more accurate than ever before (https://lnkd.in/gnrVYSgA), and new technology promises dramatic improvements in searching, automation, and documentation. Improved practices and technology give the dedicated members of this community the tools to ensure the safety of our communities.

Last week, I had the distinct pleasure of working with Doug Peavey, owner of the Lynn Peavey Company, at the IAI conference in Reno, Nevada. It was great seeing so many old friends and meeting new ones. If you haven’t heard, I am now employed by the Lynn Peavey Company. I hope to see - and hear from- everyone soon!?
