I am honored to have shared my insights on the Assurance Africa International Women's Day Edition Issue 2. My choice of topic was definitely on Privacy by Design, a concept known to many yet one that many organizations struggle with. #Privacy by design is a key concept for Data Protection. It is a guiding factor into embedding data protection #compliance in business processes and systems. The challenge here lies in shifting from a #reactive to a #proactive approach. This requires a strong commitment from leadership, a multidisciplinary approach involving legal, IT, and business teams, and ongoing training and awareness to ensure privacy is ingrained in every stage of business/development. Embracing #privaybydesign is therefore crucial, when done effectively, this not only mitigates risks and builds trust with customers, but also fosters a culture of ethical data handling, driving innovation and sustainable growth in the digital age. #Dataprotection #privacybydesign #compliance #innovation #cybersecurity

When approached to share my insights by Assurance Africa, the topic that immediately resonated with me was #NavigatingConflictofInterest in the #Boardroom. Conflict of interest is a prevalent issue in leadership, evident in the ongoing liquidation and cash flow challenges facing Kenya’s #SACCO industry. #Governancefailures have played a significant role, with mismanagement of member funds, insider lending, lack of transparency, and weak regulatory compliance leading to substantial financial losses and diminishing trust in SACCOs. Often, these challenges originate from or are worsened by conflicts of interest within boards and leadership. This raises a critical question: #Where were the #boardmembers? As professionals and leaders, we must champion robust governance frameworks and ethical leadership practices. Enjoy the Read #Leadership #Governance #BoardroomEthics
