The hospital is nationally ranked in all 11 pediatric specialties and received four Top 25 rankings. For the first time ever, Behavioral Health is included in U.S. News' rankings, and we're proud to be nationally ranked in their inaugural publication. Pediatric Behavioral Health is a key focus area of our Primary Promise to build the nation’s model health system for children. With outstanding leadership from our donors, hospital, and state leaders, on June 17, we announced Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital and our community joining forces to construct a new $96 million flagship Pediatric Behavioral Health Center, accelerated by a $25 million state of Utah investment to Primary Promise. This tremendous milestone, and the historic success of Primary Promise surpassing our minimum target of $600 million dollars, make the future bright for children in our community.?Even with such amazing news, this milestone doesn’t signal mission accomplished. Thousands of children, including those with autism, developmental disabilities, rare genetic disorders, or day-to-day instability in their home lives, still require our urgent support to be able to live their healthiest lives possible. In addition to his years of service as Surgeon-in-Chief at Primary Children's Hospital and Chief of the?Division of Pediatric Surgery, Dr. Johnson was a longtime member of the Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital Foundation Board and a nationally recognized pioneer in pediatric surgery. He was a dearly held physician, and he will be deeply missed.

Scott Anderson, our dear friend and esteemed chair of Intermountain Foundation, has announced his retirement as President and Chief Executive Officer of Zion’s Bank. All of us at Intermountain Foundation send applause and congratulations to Scott and his family following his more than three decades of incredible service and profound achievements with Zions. We’re grateful for his continued support, and wish him all the best in his next, well-deserved adventure! Thank you Scott!

One of our favorite happenings in 2023 was the Intermountain Foundation / Northwell Health Foundation exchange program. Each of our organizations is invested in sharing knowledge and deepening expertise to improve the world of health philanthropy. For this program, we each hosted staff from the other organization to help take our organizations to the next level in philanthropy. Thanks so much to our friends at Northwell Health Foundation. We’re looking forward to continuing to learn, share, and grow in 2024.

“It’s been nearly four years to the day that we announced the second campus of Primary Children’s Hospital, and we’ve all been anxiously awaiting the moment we open the doors to serve the children and families in the rapidly growing southern Salt Lake County and Utah County,” said Lisa Paletta, president of Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital, Miller Family Campus. “The day is almost here, thanks to our generous supporters, and the expertise and passions of our construction teams, caregivers, and communities.” “Together, everyone involved in the new campus has given life to our vision for a beautiful, healing space for children, and we are proud to celebrate this historical moment with you,” she added. The Miller Family Campus is one part of Intermountain Health’s Primary Promise to build the nation’s model health system for children. This transformative, multi-faceted plan requires a minimum investment of $600 million in children’s health, shared by Intermountain Health and community philanthropic support. The Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital, Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Campus in Lehi opens for patient care on February 12, 2024.

Our renovated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a beautiful part of our Primary Promise to build the nation’s model health system for children. This expanded space provides families with the private time so essential during critical neonatal care and, for the first time, accommodates parents who want to stay overnight at their child’s side. When parents can’t be present with their newborn, parent-view cameras keep them connected. Family respite areas give parents places to get away, decompress, and recharge. And the new NICU is now located directly adjacent to the Grant Scott Bonham Fetal Center, so families of newborns with complex illnesses can move seamlessly from the prenatal to postnatal care setting. We have the power to expedite discoveries, to bring groundbreaking treatments into practice to comfort and heal our youngest, most vulnerable patients.

As part of our Primary Promise to build the nation’s model health system for children, the Teen-To-Adult Care Transitions program helps teens learn how to manage their own medical needs—and that’s more complicated when you have a complex medical condition. It also teaches vital skills: self-advocacy, transferring to new providers, and navigating the adult care model.? ? Our role is to help teens make a smooth transition to adult medical care, empowering them to take charge of their own health. Our generous community will play a key part in ensuring young people with chronic conditions become adult survivors, confident to take charge of their own lives and health.?
